Programs
Recognized as one of the most innovative state programs in the nation, VEDP's Division of International Trade provides international business expertise to promote Virginia's products and services in world markets.
In addition to services we provide on a regular basis, we also have flagship export programs designed to accelerate your export success.
While most services are free, some of our programs are fee based, such as for participation in trade
events. However, these programs are offered at significant discounts and are subsidized by the state.
Information is extremely valuable. The Global Network program
gives Virginia firms access to in-country researchers, though a vast network of in-country market research firms. Virginia businesses get quick, actionable
market intelligence at a fraction of the prevailing cost. Whether you want
to survey potential buyers and distributors, or assess pricing across various
sales channels, Virginia's Global Network program answers a wide-array of research questions.
Trade Events
Exporting often requires overseas travel. Face-to-face meetings are just as important
when conducting international business as they are domestically. We help Virginia
companies develop relationships overseas through participation in international
trade shows and trade missions. Joint exhibits increase your visibility and reduce
the costs of exhibiting on your own internationally. Trade mission participants
in effect get on the fast-track to success. Trade mission participants benefit
from pre-arranged meetings with potential buyers or sales representatives overseas.
Every meeting matches each companies unique product and market objectives. Participants
also benefit from translation assistance, meeting room coordination, in-country
transportation and networking receptions and discounted hotel and travel packages.
VALET - Virginia Leaders in Export Trade Program
While all our services and
programs pay you in terms of export revenue, we also have at program that actually
gives you cash reimbursements and pro-bono services from private sector partners— the
Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. This unique public-private
program is the first of its kind in the U.S. and recently received national
recognition for its innovation by The National Council for Public-Private Partnerships
(NCPPP).
The VALET program is essentially a two-year export boot camp. It is open to
15 Virginia businesses annually, with firmly established domestic operations
that are committed to expansion through international sales. Virginia companies
who meet minimum requirements may prefer the more focused in-depth approach that
the VALET program offers. They will definitely benefit from in-depth planning,
program partner assistance and networking with peers.
AIM - Accessing International Markets Program
The Accessing International Markets (AIM) Program presents
a new and innovative opportunity for Virginia companies to successfully enter
into the global marketplace. The purpose of the AIM Program is to position
new-to-export companies, or companies entering a new market, to confidently
face the challenges of international sales and realize the benefits of exporting.
Based on a competitive application process, 20 companies will be accepted
into the one-year AIM Program each year beginning in late 2005.
