Data Protection Requirements in a Shifting Global Regulatory Landscape
November 9 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Please join the Northern Virginia Chamber, VEDP – International Trade, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council for an interactive networking event with speaker Katie Davies of Radius.
We’ve seen remarkable changes in the global regulatory environment. The European court ruling in September 2015 invalidated the EU-US Safe Harbor agreement which left many businesses scrambling to determine what they must do to comply with Europe’s strict data protection laws. The historic Brexit referendum has raised many questions for businesses wondering if they have an adequate level of data protection. On the flip side, these regulatory changes present an opportunity for U.S. cyber security companies.
During this event, the following topics will be discussed:
- How to become compliant with the current EU data protection directives
- Key regulatory changes to the current EU data protection directives
- How the shifting European regulatory environment applies to common scenarios for U.S. businesses
- What steps can be taken to ensure compliance
- Opportunities for U.S. Cyber companies
3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Registration and Networking
3:30 – 4:15 p.m. Program
4:15 – 4:30 p.m. Q&A/Networking
